“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
– Aesop
December seems to be the time when we count our blessings and make a point of giving to those in need – whether it be our time, donations, or both. No amount of time is too little and no contribution is too small.
Most grocery stores make it easy AND affordable for those wishing to donate to local food banks - as little as $5 can provide a nourishing meal for someone. The family-owned pet store I shop at, For Other Living Things, is collecting food for the pets in our homeless communities (these pet owners often have to choose between feeding themselves or their pet). Lots of groups right here in the Bay Area need volunteers to hand-out food, warm blankets, or toys.
No matter where you give or how you give – it’s the giving that matters!
Diego and I are proud to be on-going supporters of these efforts:
Animals Asia Foundation – Moon Bear Rescue
For Other Living Things (pet food donations & shelter giving tree)
Second Harvest Food Bank
Toys for Tots
City Team San Jose
The Salvation Army
Please note this “Welcome to Amazon Smile” button (also located in the right-hand column of the homepage). TONS of non-profits are partnered with them – if you’re making an Amazon purchase why not GIVE at the same time? It costs you nothing (zip, 0, nada). Click on the button for more information and list of participating organizations.
Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice.
