80’s Blast::Lizzy Borden

(anyone who thinks otherwise can go jump in Lake Minnetonka)

Lizzy Borden
from the album Visual Lies (1987)Visual Lies (Lizzy Borden)

I saw Lizzy Borden at the Cactus Club (R.I.P.) during their Master Of Disguise tour (1989/1990) and again at the Avalon (R.I.P.) in February of 2010. Lizzy Borden (real name: Gregory Charles Harges) is one of the strongest vocalists in this genre (“operatic”) – still is – and very theatrical on stage. A nice, soft-spoken rocker who chatted with fans and signed autographs after their show at the Cactus Club. – ℳ

“Me Against the World” was featured in the 1987 heavy-metal horror film, Black Roses.

The band was featured prominently in the documentary
The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years
(Directed by Penelope Spheeris).

BONUS:  Here is the actual promotional video for Lizzy Borden’s cover of “Born To Be Wild“. The video got regular airtime on Headbangers Ball back in 1988 to promote both The Decline Of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years and Lizzy Borden.
