Daily Tarot::The Sun

Tarot of Vampyres

In the Tarot of Vampyres, two figures (male and female) embrace against a backdrop of red roses and a fiery sun. My first question: Why isn’t the Vampyress turning to dust? Did drinking blood from her horned lover (Wiccan Horned God?) grant her immunity from the Sun’s destructive power? In any event, she’s not letting anything extinguish her light – including the sun!

These two are in a deep state of passion, forming a harmonious union of light/dark, male/female, action/inaction, heaven/earth, spirit/flesh. I also get a sense of Romeo and Juliet; of illicit love between the high-born princess and the low-born beast.

(As the Lord of the Fire of the World, The Sun is linked to Leo and represents vitality, powerful creative energy, self-confidence, great potential, and the Ego.)

This is the dawn that follows the darkest of nights; the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Hidden talents might surface, deceits may be revealed, and synchronicities may appear everywhere. The Sun appears to remind you to not let anything – or anyone – diminish your spirit; the radiance emanating from within you.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us… Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you… And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
