Celtic Cross Reading (8.20.2018)

Every few months I do a Celtic Cross reading for myself and thought it’d be fun to share my latest spread. Since I’ve been focusing on creative endeavors, I interpreted the message of each card with that in mind.

  1. Me and my immediate concerns:  8 of Pentacles
    Craftsmanship, skill, work, determination, focus.
You’ve honed your skills to a high level and are totally focused on your purpose.
  2. Obstacles:  7 of Wands
The “don’t give up” card. Courage, fighting for what you believe, facing challenges.
You may need to stand-up for yourself and fight for what you believe in. Challenges confront you, but you possess the resources to succeed. 7 encourages you to stay strong and focus your Will on winning the struggle. Keep working diligently for what you want – don’t let other people distract you.
  3. What’s known to you objectively:  Death
Transformation, an ending, loss & rebirth. Major change that was unavoidable.
  4. Past influences affecting you now. (Can also show something that has not yet been revealed.):  Page of Pentacles
Points to the early stages of study, developing resources, curiosity, and understanding your potential.
  5. What’s behind you. Past influences now fading away…:  6 of Swords (R)
You’ve had trouble moving away from past troubles and putting them behind you. Delays, obstacles, or other interferences complicated your plans.
  6. This is before you – describes new circumstances coming into being in the near future:
    5 of Wands (R)
This card usually suggests a struggle for power, money, or recognition.
  7. Your current state of mind:  Queen of Cups
Creative, intuitive, emotional, compassionate. You’re experiencing strong feelings about something.
  8. Circumstances & people surrounding the situation:  5 of Pentacles (R)
Indicates recovery (or persistence) after a period of adversity.
  9. What you hope for (or fear):  6 of Wands
The Victory card. Success and fortune are yours.
  10. Likely outcome:  Ace of Swords (R)
Heralds the initial stage of a new idea, spiritual direction, course of study, or intellectual project you may encounter delays with.
Note:  When they appear, Aces (Upright or Reversed) “control” the spread, indicating new beginnings and showing the path you are headed towards. They are always viewed in a positive light.

Strength
Daughter of the Flaming Sword
Passion

Sun in Leo:  Creativity and self-expression, vitality, courage.
Number 8:  Spiritual fortitude, “meeting, facing, and mastering”.

The card of empowerment, Strength shows you have faith in yourself. Your talents and skills. You have overcome many obstacles by tapping into your inner strength and fortitude. As a result, you’ve gained the resilence and confidence to patiently wade through any creative blockages. Art is a process, not just an end result.

Strength heralds a time when you will follow your Passion – to great success. It also points to a special connection with an animal or pet (a link to that wild, untamed animal that is inside us all).

Queen of Wands
Queen of the Thrones of Flame

Mars in Aries:  The first sign (and Fire sign) of the Zodiac, Aries is ruled by the planet Mars. Mars (Ares in Greek mythology) is the Roman God of War, embodying courage, action, aggression, and force of Will.
Number 13 = 4:   Processing ideas into reality, physically dynamic, formation, grounding energy.

The suit of Wands represents the spark of inspiration and creativity, and the Queen of Wands appears as your Muse. Your Fire Woman. Her existence is, in essence, a passionate drive for self-expression – a drive she commands you to embrace wholeheartedly.

A word of caution: This Queen has a habit of juggling too many projects at once. None of them get the consideration they deserve, and some are never finished. Tackle one thing and a time, giving to it all your intent and attention. You’ll find cultivating this practice will produce great results.

National Black Cat Appreciation Day (and the Ace of Pentacles)

National Today:
Black cats could use a good spin doctor. They seldom get positive publicity even though they’re just as adorable as other cats. So, show your love August 17 on Black Cat Appreciation Day. Superstitions play a big part, of course. Long ago, many linked black cats to to witchcraft, and the reputation stuck. People still think it’s bad luck if a black cat walks in front of you. On the plus side, many owners believe them to be more empathic and instinctive than other breeds. Pop culture, at least, seems to love black cats. Check out the cartoon Felix the Cat, the sarcastic Thackery Binx in the Halloween movie “Hocus Pocus,” and Salem in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”

Ace of Pentacles
Root of the Powers of Earth

Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Number 1:  Beginnings, potential, opportunity, and drive.

Aces indicate new beginnings and show the path you are headed towards; the Ace of Pentacles is the potential for growth on the material plane.

This card brings a surge of new energy and is a good omen regarding finances, health, security, and success. It is a reminder that your creative dreams can be realized as long as you remain focused on the end result. Visual realization is the practice of imagining attainment of a goal in order to reach that goal. Manifest your own reality. Start by  believing  knowing you have an abundance of resources – both external and internal. There is magic in the present. You already are where you want to be. You already are who you want to be.
