When you first use retinoids, you may notice redness, peeling of your skin, or worsening of your acne. You can minimize this by using the product every other day until your body gets used to it, or mix it with moisturizer.
Prescription formulas contain retinoic acid, the magic ingredient that fights visible aging; nonprescription alternatives need to be converted into retinoic acid by the skin at the cellular level. “In off-the-shelf formulas, the ingredient called retinol is the only derivative of vitamin A worth using…while retinol is more gentle than retinoic acid, biochemically it does exactly the same thing — it may just take longer to see results.”
Retinoids work…by affecting gene expression and causing enhanced collagen production, skin smoothing, and an evening of pigmentation.
“…it takes an average of 12 weeks for retinoic acid to produce noticeable changes in the skin….”
Of all the skincare products I use on my face & neck, I’ve used RoC® Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Moisturizer for the longest period of time (over 30 years). Although it didn’t give me revolutionary results, the changes were significant enough for me to become a loyal customer. I clearly saw a reduction in uneven color and improved skin texture. In fact, I had an Esthetician comment on the softness of my skin and asked me what I used! RoC® Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Moisturizer is one of the products I credited.
On the days I don’t exfoliate* I apply RoC® Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Moisturizer to my face after the Hyaluronic Acid serum and before applying my moisturizer. I do this twice a day, morning and night.
Obviously, the bottom line is: I recommend adding any RoC® Retinol products to your skincare routine. Amazon sells it for $17.93; but you can find it pretty much everywhere and the price varies from store to store.
