The Hanged Man: Sweet Surrender

On this 1st day of October, when the days are warm but the morning hold the chill of Autumn – what energies should be embraced?

Die early and often.

Major Arcana Tarot cards represent the life lessons, karmic influences and the big archetypal themes that are influencing your life and your soul’s journey to enlightenment. When you see a Major Arcana card in a Tarot reading, you are being called to reflect on the life lessons and themes that are currently being experienced at this time.

Trusting in your higher self and The Universe. Faith in your destiny. Patience. Going with the flow. (It is what it is.) Overcoming the Ego. Self-sacrifice in order to achieve something of greater value. Giving up the struggle until a clearer perspective is reached. By surrending we are transformed.

The Hanged Man has ties to the “Dying God” Archetype (Odin, Adonis, Osiris, Baal, Tammuz, Dionysus, Quetzalcotl, Jesus) and the timing of the reading could also represent the death of Summer and resurrection of Autumn.

Like my Post on September 25, 2021 this card also addresses FEAR. Irrational fears and nightmares. By identifying with the Dying God, we renounce the need for control and permanence for the sake of meaning and transformation. What do you need to relinquish in order to make room for something more positive? We’re talking spiritual work here – not the material plane.

Hopelessness is the limit and beginning of a new kind of hope. You have to keep going – not to achieve dreams of beautiful mountaintop forests, but because life is more powerful than death.
