Dividing T. usenoides

Tillandsia usenoides (“Spanish Moss”) is an epiphyte:

n.  a plant that grows on another plant but is not parasitic (such as the numerous ferns, bromeliads,
air plants, and orchids growing on tree trunks in tropical rainforests)

Tillandsias (also called air plants) are a type of bromeliad.

Mine receive bright light but no direct sun. Under these optimal conditions, my “swag” has grown to the point that it needs a haircut.
So I snipped off a few of the longer tendrils…
leaving the “mother” plant neat and trim.
I loosely tied the snipped-off strands with galvanized steel wire, creating a loop at the top for easy hanging.
My new “colony” of air plants!
