Dancing Plants!

In bed reading the last few pages of a Tom Petty bio.*  Diego’s in his bed next to me (preening himself, as usual). It’s around 1:30am. Out of the corner of my eye I notice some movement. So does Diego.

All my hanging plants are swaying back-and-forth. Here in California we’re so nonchalant about earthquakes that at first it didn’t register with me. After a few minutes, the swaying stopped. THEN it dawned on me it might’ve been aftershocks.

Hopping online, I saw an earthquake hit Hawthorne, NV around that timeframe.

This morning:

“More than a dozen earthquakes shook the area near Hawthorne, Nevada – about 70 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe…he first quake hit at 12:18 a.m….California followed in the next hour…Then there was a 5.5 quake, centered in Hawthorne, shortly after 1 a.m…”
