The Hermit (R)
The Magus of the Voice of Power
The Propet of the Eternal

Mercury in Virgo:  As it’s ruling planet, Mercury loves being in Virgo. This combo represents critical thinking and the need to discern and communicate logically.
Number 9:  Conclusions, completion, attainment, resolution.

Being a Major Arcana card, The Hermit is giving you no choice in the matter: it’s time for some long-overdue self-evaluation.

The Hermit acts as your Spiritual Guide. He/She is here to guide you to your own personal truth; who you are and what you can become, what makes you unique, and your purpose in life. But you’ll have to face your Shadow side first…and that’s when the magic happens. Be still and pay attention to what’s going on inside you. Acknowledge and embrace whatever mood, thought, or feeling appears. When The Hermit appears in Reverse it means you need to pay greater attention to its message.

Caught Between 2 Fires

Not a surprise, but California’s Fire Season is in full swing. Here in Placerville, the skies are hazy with smoke – most of it from two very large fires in Redding & Yosemite. We haven’t see the sun all day today and it’s been eerily quiet outside. Even the chickens have been acting subdued. Hats off to Cal Fire for all the hard work they do each and every year here in the Golden State.

Decisions, Decisions

7 of Cups
Lord of Illusionary Success
Debauch

Venus in Scorpio:  Regeneration, secrecy, and power is at the core of Scorpio. With Venus on board, Scorpio’s influence revolves around romantic love, beauty, and unions. The outcome can manifest itself as overindulgence, deception, hiding behind illusions, and depravity.
Number 7:  Reflection/introspection, delusion, illusionary success, assessment.

Just like the Witch in the Everyday Witch Tarot, when I’m presented with too many options my brain goes into overload. The outcome is that I walk out of the store without buying a single thing. Sometimes making NO decision is the CORRECT decision. How many times have you gone shopping and purchased things just because you didn’t want to come home empty-handed, only to discover you really didn’t like the items you bought as much as you thought you did? So they sit your closet or drawer, forgotten until it’s time to donate them to Goodwill as part of your annual “clean sweep”.

This poor customer looks like she’s ready to make a hasty decision – one she may deeply regret – and to the woman behind the counter it’s just another sale. Even the black-and-white cat looks disinterested. I say, “Walk away! Get thyself to a nice little bistro and have a glass of wine. Hell, have the whole bottle! Then go home. Go HOME. Come back another time when you know exactly what it is you desire.” That’s my advice and I’m sticking to it.

Conquer the Challenge – Win the War

5 of Swords
Lord of Defeat

Venus in Aquarius:  As the Goddess of love and beauty, Venus possesses a love of beauty, art, and nature. Being an Air sign, Aquarius is more cerebral – being unconventional, original, independent, mentally intuitive, and emotionally detached.
Number 5:  Conflict, challenges, and opportunity.

The 5 of Swords from the Everyday Witch Tarot shows three witches attempting to perform an incantation, their familiars in attendance.

Two of the women are obviously distressed and their respective felines are noticably distracted, their human companions having failed in their efforts. However, the third famliar is fully present – one paw acting as a placeholder in the Grimoire. (Does the cat appear to be winking?) His Witch consort has focused on the task at hand, confidently working her talent and skills, and as a result has successfully executed the spell.
